Aurangabad, September 22:

If you think Aurangabad doesn’t offer adventure tourism, you might be wrong. Just visit Mhaismal hill station and you will experience it. The trauma or stress you experience while traveling a distance of 11 km (from Khuldabad to Mhaismal) by car is nothing less than an adventure for visitors these days.

The 11 km long road is full of deep potholes, braving a 2 km patch of paved road. The journey is arduous from point T in Khuldabad, where vehicles from Aurangabad turn to the right, heading towards Mhaismal. The uneven surface road greets you and the trauma begins after passing through the white colored Heritage Gate, past Khuldabad Guest House. Visitors are required to drive the cars at low speed. Negotiations with potholes through bends in the ghat

are stressful. The occupants of the car are exhausted and tired as if they had been sitting in the vehicle for 11 hours.

Entrepreneur’s performance on radar !!

Deputy Engineer of PWD (Khuldabad sub-division) Dilip Kolte said: “The administrative approval for the 11 km road works was Rs 40.74 cr, but the technical approval was given at Rs 36 cr. The two-year contract valuing Rs 36 crore to develop the 11 km long road was awarded to Nashik-based ATR Infra Projects in July 2018. Later, a one-year extension was granted until July 2021. The contractor only developed a 5 km road (Mhaismal Ghat to the guesthouse) in this

period. The works included widening the road from 5.5 meters to 10 meters, leveling the surface, building bridges, etc. He claimed to have completed work of Rs 10 cr in three years and also collected invoices of Rs 9 cr. There was indeed a problem of funds, but the office was not satisfied with the work carried out. It is also incomplete. Therefore, the PWD withdrew the contract

(partially) and re-invited the tender. ”

PWD re-invites tender of Rs 18.57 crore

The PWD (Aurangabad) division office re-invited the tender worth Rs 18.57 cr to complete the development of the remaining 6 km long road stretching between Khuldabad T-Point and Mhaismal Ghat. In the meantime, it is hoped that the works will start either after the monsoon or from the auspicious Diwali festival depending on the funding.

“The tender has been re-invited to appoint a new contractor to develop the road with a length of 0-6 km (until the end of Ghat) as well as the balanced civil works. After completing the tendering process, the work order will be issued soon, “Kolte said.

PWD fine Rs 95K per day to contractor

Kolte pointed out: “The PWD fined the contractor Rs 95,000 per day (from July 21, 2021) until he does not complete the ongoing work on the 5 km road. (Ghat at Guest House). The fine will be recovered. other work in progress of the contractor in the State. “

Why is PWD a shielding contractor?

When the current pathetic condition of the road was brought to light, Kolte declined to comment, saying, “The road may not be visible due to the spread of mud during the rainy season.”
