Upcoming Road Closures, Construction and Detours in the Chattanooga Area

JULY 19-AUGUST 5

– University St between MLK and 8th St

Closed for works. The detour will be displayed.

JULY 19-DECEMBER 25

– Georgia Ave between 7th Street and Walnut Street

One southbound lane closed for work.

JULY 20-ABOUT 27

– Jones Street between School Street and Waugh Street near downtown Dalton, Georgia

Closed for storm stump repairs. Repairs are scheduled for approximately one week. Detours will be posted. Drivers should plan to use School Street, Thornton Avenue and Waugh Street to make detours around the affected section of road. Fire department emergency response will not be affected by the repairs, as trucks will still be able to drive out of Station 1 and Jones Street.

JULY 25-26

– Crutchfield St between Glass St and Dodds Ave

Closed from Monday 8:30 a.m. to Tuesday 8:00 p.m. for wall restoration work. Detours will be posted.

– Mount Olivet Road in Whitfield County, Georgia

Closed for cross drain replacement beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.

JULY 28

– Broad Street between W 3rd Street and Aquarium Plaza

Closed 6-10 p.m. for CYCLEdelic: Bike Chattanooga 10th Anniversary. Street parking will be limited and the downtown electric shuttle will continue to operate as normal.

– The intersection of Aquarium Way at Broad Street

JULY 29

– Cherry Street to E MLK Blvd

Closed from 3 p.m. to midnight for the installation of Nightfall.

– Market Street from East 8th Street to East 10th Street

Closed from 5:30 p.m. to midnight for nightfall.

– ML King Blvd from Broad Street to Georgia Avenue

Closed from 5:30 p.m. to midnight for nightfall.

JULY 30

– Georgia Ave from E 10th Street to E Martin Luther King Blvd

Closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Shoes For School event.

– Taft Ave to Cannon Ave

Closed 3-10 p.m. for Chambers Welding Open House.

– Riverfront Parkway between Power Alley and Chestnut Street

Closed 6-10 p.m. for Riverfront Nights. All vehicles with more than two axles must use Aquarium Way or W Martin Luther King Blvd as a detour.

JULY 31

– Reggie White Blvd in front of the First Horizon pavilion

Closed until 6 p.m. for Chattanooga Market.
