Painters are at work on parts of the main building and the interiors of the Palace. Minor repairs and plastering of the walls have started at the palace gates of Balarama, Jayarama and Jayamarthanda. The elevator, some rooms and the heritage gates are being repainted. Work even in the residential part of the former royal family has been resumed.
The authorities are focusing more on lighting. Electricians took care of the annual maintenance of electrical circuits, bulbs and other units. The heritage lampposts, the five lampposts and the sound and light units are also being painted and small works are underway.
According to officials, a large number of the golden-hued incandescent bulbs used to light up the palace will be replaced with new ones. The palace will be illuminated with one-lakh bulbs and almost 15% of them will be replaced.
The horticulture service has planned to arrange flowering plants within the grounds of the Palace. Authorities plan to exhibit more than 1,000 plants to bring the palace to life.
