Optisol wins a civil contract for a solar wind farm

Optisol, an RSK Group company, has been appointed civil contractor for a new technology and innovation park in Bedford.

The Optisol solar farm cleaning, maintenance and civil works contractor has been contracted by Diamond Renewables to carry out civil works including piling, erection of the framework, installation of panels and the digging of trenches.

The new solar farm, which is being built on a former landfill site in Elstow, will eventually house more than 8,000 solar panels. These will generate and power local on-site buildings and businesses with low-carbon energy.

More than 2,000 pile positions will be put in place with the support of another RSK company, Centara, which joined the company at the end of 2021.

Centara will ensure that all positions are correctly defined in accordance with the RICS standard to enable accurate positioning of pile positions.

Optisol Services Director, Sam Crane, said: “We are very proud to have been appointed by Diamond for this project, having completed our first project of a similar size with them last year.

“It is also great to be able to use another professional and highly qualified RSK company in Centara. will allow us to carry out all our other site work within the scheduled time.

The project should be completed this spring.
