Arlington, Virginia – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) joined other associations in a letter to senators urging support for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The investments included in the bipartisan bill would facilitate necessary repairs and upgrades to roads, bridges, railways, and other critical infrastructure needs.

“The NWRA is proud to support strong investments in our infrastructure. The waste and recycling industry and the US Postal Service are the only two entities that travel every road in America at least once a week. This makes the waste and recycling industry one of the most important players in the surface transportation system, ”said Darrell Smith, President and CEO of the NWRA. “We urge the Senate to pass this bipartisan infrastructure law. “

According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, increasing wear and tear on our nation’s roads has left 43% of our public roads in poor or poor condition with an overall rating of D.
