JAKARTA, March 31 (Xinhua) — The longest transverse box girder of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway (HSR) was erected in Indonesia on Thursday, creating favorable conditions for the next rail-laying procedure.

This box girder spans the Jakarta-Bandung expressway with heavy traffic, which has brought many difficulties for the construction.

To ensure smooth progress, the engineers and workers of China TieSiJu Civil Engineering Group CO., Ltd have provided ground traffic management solutions and safety protection measures, while fully communicating with the Safety Committee of the Indonesian Construction Ministry of Public Works and Housing, and other related government departments. .

The Jakarta-Bandung Railway is the link between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Indonesia’s Global Maritime Fulcrum strategy.

With a design speed of 350 km/h, the railway built with Chinese technology will reduce the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, capital of West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes.
