Kioxia Corporation Begins Construction of New Manufacturing Facility at Kitakami Plant | national company
KITAKAMI, Japan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 5, 2022–
Kioxia Corporation, the global leader in memory solutions, today held a groundbreaking ceremony for its state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility (Fab2) at its Kitakami plant in Iwate Prefecture. , in Japan. Using state-of-the-art AI-based manufacturing, the new facility will aid in the eventual expansion of production of its proprietary BiCS FLASH TM 3D flash memory at the Kitakami plant. Construction of the Fab2 facility is expected to be completed in 2023.

The Fab2 facility will have an earthquake-resistant structure and an environmentally friendly design that uses energy-efficient manufacturing equipment and renewable energy sources. In addition, an administrative building will be constructed to house control management and technical services in response to the increase in staff.
