Irons Brothers Construction owners honored at Master Builders Association gala

The husband and wife team of Joseph and Melissa Irons, co-owners of Irons Brothers Construction, were both honored at the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish County (MBAKS) gala last month.

Shoreline-based Irons Brothers Construction is a long-standing sponsor of My Edmonds News, MLTnews and Lynnwood today.

Melissa Irons received the Sandy McAdams Woman of the Year 2021 Award, which recognizes a member of the MBAKS Building Professional Women Council who demonstrates excellence and commitment to making a difference in her professional life and community. .

Joseph Irons received the 2021 MBAKS Outstanding Service Award.

Described as a pioneer woman in the construction industry, Melissa Irons is Director of Marketing and Operations for Irons Brothers Construction. A former registered nurse, Melissa has been involved in the care of patients and her team of nurses as a manager, mentor and educator. This role continued in her career in home improvement, where she was committed to giving back to the building industry by volunteering as a member of the Master Builders Association (MBA).

She has helped implement several public awareness campaigns for the MBA and mentors women through the organization’s Professional Women in Building Council (PWB).

Thanks to the Rampathon and Painting a Better tomorrow events via the Master Builders Association, Melissa has been building wheelchair ramps for those in need since 2007. In 2021, she volunteered for the first PWB Planter Box Build event, teaching students how to measure, use power tools, and actually build and paint a planter that they could take home and use.

She is active with the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Seattle Business Association and is a member of the Shoreline Lake Forest Park Arts Council.

She received the Remodelers Council Member of Excellence award in 2016.

Melissa Irons received her award from Kimberly Martin, President of the PWB 2021, who described Irons as “one of those women helping to connect members with other members in business to aid them in their professional growth and commercial, as well as exposure to opportunities within the construction industry and the community.

“She continually leads by example and we are delighted to recognize her as the Woman of the Year,” said Martin.

Receiving the MBAKS Exceptional Service Award, Irons Brothers President and CEO Joseph Irons was cited for his significant contributions to the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, including the service in many leadership roles. He was chairman of the MBA Executive Board and Association in 2016, and in 2011 and 2009 he was named MBA Remodeler Member of the Year.

He was also 1st Vice President of the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) in 2021 and has just been elected President of BIAW for 2022. He has been named recipient of the National Association of Home Builders Young Professional Region Award. E in 2018.

As the COVID pandemic unfolded, Joseph participated in the development of the COVID-19 Safety Toolkit Program for MBA and BIAW, which has helped members across the country learn how to be safe. on their sites and remain open despite the health care crisis.
