Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following national highways in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties as crews complete construction and maintenance activities.

Escambia County

  • Pensacola Bay Bridge Replacement (US 98) Drivers will experience alternating lane closures and lane changes on the Pensacola Bay Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, August 23 through Saturday, August 28. Crews will use the tracks of the current bridge as a platform to pour concrete decks for the westbound structure (Pensacola to Gulf Breeze). Additional work will include the installation of jetty lighting.
    • Construction of the 17th Avenue interchange The following road closures will take place between Graffiti Bridge and Bayfront Parkway on Sunday week. August 22, while the teams are working on the connection of 17th Avenue to the new interchange.
      • Southbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday, August 22 to Thursday, August 26 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
      • The north and southbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, August 27 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 30.

During closures, southbound traffic on 17th Avenue will be diverted to 14th Avenue using East Belmont Street. Northbound traffic from the Pensacola Bay Bridge bound for 17th Avenue will be diverted to Ninth Avenue.

  • North Ninth Avenue (State Road (SR) 289) Carpenters Creek Bridge Replacement – All traffic lanes are temporarily relocated to the north side of the bridge while crews work to replace the southern part of the structure. Additionally, drivers will face intermittent lane closures to allow construction crews to mobilize materials and equipment.

US 29 Muscogee Road South Resurfacing (County Road (CR) 184) to Atmore Highway (SR 97) – Motorists will face intermittent lane closures from Sunday August 23 to Friday August 27 as crews carry out plotting and signaling operations.

  • West Cervantes Street Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project (US 90) –The interior lane will be closed between North Pace Boulevard and J Street to make midway improvements. Drivers are reminded that the speed limit between Dominguez Street and A Street is 30 mph.
  • Nine Mile Road (US 90) Widening of Pine Forest (SR 297) to US 29 – There will be alternating and intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures and traffic changes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and other construction activities.
  • US 90 (Nine Mile Road) Widening of Beulah Road to SR 297 (Pine Forest Road) – Drivers will experience alternating and intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures and traffic changes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and other construction activities.
  • Improvements at the Sorrento Road intersection (SR 292) at the point of innerarity (CR 292A) –
    Motorists can expect daytime shoulder closures the week of Monday, August 23 as crews install a main pipe.
  • US 29 Widening of Interstate 10 (I-10) to Nine Mile Road (US 90) – Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on US 29, between I-10 and Nine and Half Mile Road, and on Nine Mile Road at the US 29 overpass.
  • Routine maintenance of the Interstate 110 (I-110) bridge from Maxwell Street to Garden Street – Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, August 22 through Thursday, August 26 while crews perform routine bridge maintenance.
  • U.S. 29 Turn Lane Construction at West Roberts Road and Crowe Lane – There will be intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the intersections of West Roberts Road and Crowe Lane Tuesday August 24 through Friday August 27 as crews conduct paving operations.

Santa Rosa County

  • Pensacola Bay Bridge Replacement (US 98) – Drivers will experience alternating lane closures and lane changes on the Pensacola Bay Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday August 23 through Saturday August 28. Crews will use the tracks of the current bridge as a platform to pour concrete decks for the westbound structure (Pensacola to Gulf Breeze). Additional work will include the installation of jetty lighting.
  • Widening of US 98 from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive – The crews continue utility relocations, land clearing, excavation, improved drainage, and pond construction. There are anticipated traffic impacts.
  • I-10 Resurfacing East of SR 281 (Avalon Boulevard) East of SR 87 – Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures on the Blackwater River Bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, August 23 through Thursday, August 26 as crews complete paving operations.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
