Construction almost complete for 2022 “Home for Good”

ROANOKE, Va. – WSLS 10 News launched this year’s Home for Good project in June and now the finish line is in sight!

In a few weeks, we will be dedicating the home we are building in partnership with Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley, generous community sponsors and volunteers. Now the job is to put the finishing touches on the house.

“It’s all of those things that you see when you walk into it that really put the polish on it and make it really nice and presentable,” said Brian Clark, Habitat’s construction manager. “We still have some of our trim to do, our cabinets are going to be installed I think next week, so that’s really exciting. It really sets that finished look on the house. Lots of little paint, touch-ups, caulking, that sort of thing.

Clark said construction work is nearly complete. “I think we’re probably at around 80-85%,” he said. “There’s still a lot of stuff that looks like it needs to be done, but a lot of our big infrastructure work is done.”

Clark thanks all the people and groups who have volunteered on the site for keeping things on track.

“It’s just wonderful to see the community come out and really support our housing work and also our support for our families here in the community,” Clark said.
