Upcoming bridge construction: Springdale Street

The Springdale Street Bridge is expected to close in late September, after the Edwards Street Bridge reopens. Demolition activities are scheduled for early October with the complete closure of the highways.

The Edwards Bridge is expected to reopen in late September.

COMING SOON! The I-405 Southbound (SB) access ramp from Talbert Avenue will close for approximately ONE MONTH

Crews will close the I-405 southbound (SB) access ramp from Talbert Avenue for approximately one month to allow for the widening of the highway.

Activities include the removal of the existing ramp, excavation, placement and compaction of base materials, reinforcement and concrete work, paving, drainage installation, electrical work and construction. tracing.

The ramp is expected to close at 10 p.m. on Monday, September 20. The new ramp is expected to reopen in about a month.

NEW! Closures of I-405 northbound (NB) for the removal of false structures from the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge

Teams will remove the shoring from the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge over I-405. This work will require the closure of the NB I-405 highway between Warner Avenue and McFadden Avenue.

NB I-405 will be closed from 11 p.m. on Monday, September 20 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21.

NEW! Closures of I-405 southbound (SB) to remove false structures on the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge

Teams will remove the shoring from the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge over I-405. This work will require the closure of SB I-405 between Beach Boulevard and Magnolia Street.

SB I-405 will be closed at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21 and at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22.

UPDATE! Southbound I-405 (SB) closures for the Goldenwest Street Bridge falsework installation

The crews are installing the shoring of the Goldenwest Street Bridge on I-405. This work requires the closure of SB I-405 between Goldenwest and Bolsa Avenue.

SB I-405 will run from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. until Friday, September 17, then again on Wednesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 23.

NB I-405 closures are scheduled to begin the week of September 27.

REMINDER! I-405 exit barrier northbound (NB) to Euclid Street closed for approximately one month

Crews closed the NB I-405 exit ramp to Euclid on September 8, for about a month to accommodate the widening of the freeway.

The NB I-405 exit ramp to Susan Street and the NB I-405 exit ramp to Harbor Boulevard are alternate routes.

UPDATE! Southbound (SB) Euclid Street closures for water pipe installation continue

SB Euclid will be closed between Mount Washington and the freeway ramps from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. until Friday, September 17, so crews can complete public works.

REMINDER! The I-405 northbound (NB) loop exit to Bolsa Avenue is closed

Crews closed the NB I-405 loop off ramp to Bolsa on June 18, for about three months to accommodate the widening of the highway.

REMINDER! SR-22 Westbound (WB) access ramp from Old Ranch Parkway closed

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway slip road to WB SR-22 on April 13, for about three more months to accommodate the widening of the freeway.

Activities include demolition, excavation, grading, installation of drainage and electrical systems, concrete pouring and asphalt paving.

• Daytime working hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Crews can mobilize equipment from 6 a.m.
• Night shift hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

REMINDER! Sidewalk closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for signage work

Crews closed sidewalks at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue for permanent traffic light construction.

Activities include the removal of existing sidewalk ramps, installation of new sidewalk ramps, electrical and foundation work.

Construction of permanent traffic lights will continue until September.

Daytime working hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to two lanes at the intersection during construction.

REMINDER! SB I-405 exit ramp to Bolsa Chica road closed

Crews closed the SB I-405 exit ramp to Bolsa Chica on October 27, 2020. The ramp will be closed for approximately three additional months to advance construction of the Bolsa Chica bridge.

REMINDER! Southbound I-405 Loop (SB) exit ramp to Westminster Boulevard is closed

The closure of the SB I-405 loop exit ramp to Westminster Boulevard eastbound has been extended for an additional two months to allow crews to complete construction of the bridge which was delayed due to owl nesting.

The new ramp is expected to open at the end of October.

REMINDER! NB and SB I-405 Lane reductions for center median work

The crews will continue to carry out work on the central median of I-405 at the Bolsa Avenue bridge. This work will require reductions in the NB HOV and SB I-405 reserved lanes between Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest.

Lane reductions are expected to continue from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for approximately two additional months.

COMING SOON! NB I-405 Euclid Street access ramp to be closed for approximately ONE MONTH

Crews will close Euclid’s NB I-405 slip road for about a month at the end of September.

The 405 community outreach team will provide detailed information on closures, detours and times in future alerts.

Construction activities

Avenue of the Almonds

REMINDER! Teams are working on the foundation of a wall along Almond Avenue between Dahlia Circle and
Jasmin Circle, adjacent to NB I-405. The foundation consists of approximately 250 drilled-in-hole piles (CIDH).

This activity includes drilling large holes, installing steel forms and cages, and pouring concrete into the holes to form the piles.

After these activities, teams will begin placing rebar, constructing shuttering and pouring concrete for
build the wall.

Continuous from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays as needed for approximately two and a half months.

Nighttime activities can also take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Crews can mobilize equipment as early as 6 am, and some activities can take place at night.

Bushard Street

UPDATE! Crews are installing piles for the wall adjacent to the Bushard Street Bridge on I-405 near Poplar Street.

Pile installation activities will continue from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Monday, September 20, on weekdays.

Crews can mobilize equipment as early as 6 am, and some activities can take place at night.

Fairview Road

UPDATE! Crews are busy completing construction of the wall along NB Fairview Road. This work will require lane reductions on NB Fairview.

Activities include placing concrete for the curb and gutter, installing the foundation for a traffic light and placing concrete for the new sidewalk.

NB Fairview will be reduced to one lane between the freeway ramp.

This work will resume the week of September 20.

Magnolia Street

UPDATE! The teams will carry out maintenance work on Magnolia Street. This work will require reductions in night lanes on Magnolia.

Magnolia will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Heil Avenue and Recreation Circle every night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24.

Warner Avenue

REMINDER! Crews will continue to install piles for the Warner Avenue Bridge over I-405, in the center median and adjacent to NB / SB I-405 at the Warner Bridge; and a nearby retaining wall along Warner looking west.

Continuously from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continuously on weekdays and Saturdays as needed for approximately two months.

Crews can mobilize equipment as early as 6 am, and some activities can take place at night.

Westminster Boulevard

REMINDER! Crews will continue to install piles for the foundation from the center median of the Westminster Boulevard Bridge.

Continuously from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for approximately two additional weeks. Nighttime activities can also take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Crews can mobilize equipment as early as 6 am, and some activities can take place at night.

HOV connector I-405 / SR-73

REMINDER! Crews are ready to work on the foundation for the I-405 / SR-73 HOV Southbound (SB) Connection Bridge. The foundation consists of 8 holes cast in the borehole (CIDH) and 35 steel tubular piles.

The activity of the CIDH includes the installation of large diameter casings approximately 200 feet into the ground.

The tubular steel piles will be driven into the ground until they reach a layer of hard earth under the foundation of the structure.

Pile installation activities are underway and will continue from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and weekends, as needed, until spring 2022.

Daytime and night lane reductions on SB I-405 between SR-73 and Bear Street are expected to support the work.

Crews can mobilize equipment from 6 a.m., and some activities can take place from 9 p.m.
at 6 a.m. as needed.
