Celebrating Engineering Week: GhIE inducts 130 engineers into the institution
As part of the activities marking the celebration and conference of the 2022 Engineering Week, the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), on Monday, March 28, 2022, inducted 130 engineers, consisting of 114 professional engineers by examination and 16 engineers professionals by confirmation hearing. of the oral examination in the establishment.
This took place during an induction ceremony held at the Academy of Arts and Sciences, Accra.
Welcoming the engineers to the ceremony, the Executive Director of GhIE, Ing. David Nyante said the inductees are here today because they made the bold decision to become professional engineers, adding that “no educational institution can make you a professional engineer. Only professionals can make professionals”.
He drew the attention of the inductees to the fact that a professional produces high-level work all the time, including those who see themselves and those who do not. The traits of a professional include competence, knowledge, integrity, respect, trust, among others.
The Chairman of the GhIE Membership Committee, Ing. Dr. Patrick A. Bekoe provided details of the inductees from the four technical divisions, saying, “A total of 114 candidates participated in the various examinations, including 30 civil engineers, 16 mechanical/agricultural engineers, 14 chemical/mining engineers and 54 electrical engineers. /Electronic engineers. In addition, 16 candidates took part in the confirmation hearing, of which seven were from the Civil division, three from the Mechanical/Agriculture division, four from the Chemical/Mining division and two from the Electrical/Electronic division”.
These candidates for the confirmation audition were senior engineers who possessed the required engineering qualification, who had practiced for a considerable number of years and had a proven track record. but for some reason not registered for GhIE membership.
They were considered for the confirmation hearing but did not participate in the technical review and written exam. They did, however, pass the oral exam.
