SRC said in a statement on Thursday that Nakuru fares will now be at the same rate as other cities including Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.

“Following the granting of city status to the city of Nakuru, pursuant to Executive Order No. 6 2021, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) reviewed the placement of the Nakuru cluster for the purpose of payment of allowances daily subsistence allowance (DSA) from county headquarters to cities. , to be in tandem with the rates payable for other cities,” the CBC said in a statement.

The latest exam will apply to all officers and state officials, both nationally and county-level. The SRC last reviewed the rates in 2017, when Nakuru was still a municipality.

F4-grade civil servants will now receive 22,000 shillings per day for local travel, up from 18,000 shillings previously. F1, F2 and E5 grades will get Sh18,200 against Sh14,600 while E3 and E4 will get Sh16,800.

Grades E2, E1 and D5 will receive a 3,000 shilling increase in their allowances to 14,000 shillings while D4 will now receive 11,200 shillings.

For civil servants, the UV highest job group will see an increase in their daily allowance from Sh14,600 to Sh18,200.

ST and PR groups will be entitled to 16,800 Sh, 14,000 Sh respectively while KN (11,200 Sh) FJ (6,300) and AE (4,200).

Nakuru was elevated to city status last year after the Senate approved its application for elevation to city status from a municipality.

According to documents submitted to the Senate last year, the city has a population of 367,183, which exceeds the 250,000 population threshold required for a city.
