Alchemco’s TechCrete 2500 used by civil engineering students in the annual concrete canoe competition

– Kennesaw State University students leverage fast-acting sealer to speed up schedule –

RICHMOND, VA, USA, May 2, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — HENRICO, Virginia, (April 28, 2022) — Alchemco’s best TechCrete 2500 sealant has proven to be the saving grace for engineering civilian students from Kennesaw State University and their participation in the 2022 ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition. The world leader in innovative concrete waterproofing systems has donated its product to students to help them build their canoe in concrete, after they found themselves in a time crunch when supply chain issues delayed their construction materials by months.

Created by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1988, the Concrete Canoe Competition challenges college and university students to successfully design, build, and pilot a concrete canoe. They are responsible for the design of the canoe and the display, presentation, a design document and a technical manual on the canoe. The parameters of the competition change slightly each year, requiring students to think outside the box and take on new engineering challenges.

This year’s competition featured a new set of challenges for 14 Kennesaw State University students who volunteered their time to enter the competition, with supply chain issues delaying their materials by more than three months. A process that usually begins in August each year only began when the materials arrived in November. With their typical concrete surface sealers taking weeks to apply and dry, TechCrete 2500
The waterproofing agent allowed them to seal their concrete canoe in a single day, eliminating 2-3 weeks of work.
This time-saving measure allowed them to successfully complete their 200-pound concrete canoe in time for the competition. “I heard Mario Baggio, CEO of Alchemco, talking about his company’s TechCrete 2500 product at a conference, and I knew it was the product we needed,” said Dale Goff, engineering student. civilian at Kennesaw State University. “It’s an impressive product that saved the day for our team, allowing us to save precious weeks when our schedule was greatly reduced. I can see what an exceptional asset this product is to the construction industry as they battle the same supply chain delays we have experienced.

“We are proud to have been able to help these ambitious students at Kennesaw State University, and we were completely confident that our TechCrete 2500 product would prove effective in this unique application,” said Baggio. “We look forward to assisting them in future competitions if needed.”
